Recognizing The Need for Pest Control

2 Types Of Pests You May See In Your Home, And Tips To Get Rid Of Them

Getting pests in your home can be frustrating, especially if you are having a problem getting rid of them. To help you, below are two types of pests and how to get them out of your home just in case they decide to move in.

Ants

Ants are attracted to most types of food. The way this works is one ant will come out and search for food. If they find food, they will then go back to the nest and let all the other ants know. You will then start seeing a lot of ants.

It can be difficult to get the ants out. Fortunately, there are many things you can do. One thing is to purchase ant traps. For example, one type is a thick liquid. You put the liquid on a cardboard card that comes in the kit. You then place the card where you see a lot of ants. Ants are attracted to the liquid and before you know it you will see many ants eating the liquid. This will then kill them. Some ants will also take some of the liquid back to the nest so the ants there will also die.

Drain Flies

If you start seeing small flying bugs with black wings in your bathroom or your kitchen then you likely have drain flies. These flies eat anything that is built up inside the pipes in your drains, such as build up from skin, hair, dirt, and more. Once these bugs find what they like you will notice the flies increase. One way to get rid of these flies is to purchase a drain cleaner. Make sure what you purchase is a gel type. This is because the gel will stick to the pipes. If you use a liquid drain cleaner it will not coat the pipes at all. Pour the drain cleaner into the drains that you notice the drain flies around. Do this at night before you go to bed as you need to let the drain cleaner sit overnight. In the morning boil a pot of water and pour the boiling water down each drain that you put the drain cleaner in.

If you want to know for sure that you have drain flies put a few pieces of scotch tape over the drain in the bathroom and/or kitchen sink. Let the tape sit overnight. In the morning you will see flies stuck to the tape if you have them.
